The fundamental finishing treatment for cotton fabric

The EFI™ Mezzera MERCERIZING preparation line provides a critical textile finishing treatment for cellulose fabric and yarn – mainly cotton and flax – which improves dye uptake and tear strength, reduces fabric shrinkage, and imparts a silk-like luster. By treating cotton yarn with a caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) solution, the process changes the structure of the cotton fiber, making it stronger and more lustrous. It also pre-shrinks the fiber so the yarn doesn’t shrink as much during laundering.
