EFI was founded by Efraim “Efi” Arazi and opened its first office in San Francisco, CA.
1991
EFI introduces its first product, the Fiery® color server.
2000
Office controllers become a commodity. EFI looks for new direction and Fiery is repositioned for professional print.
2003
EFI enters the business process automation software market and acquires Printcafé.
2005
EFI decides the future involves industrial inkjet technology and acquires VUTEk®, the leading global provider of superwide digital inkjet printers.
2006
EFI acquires Jetrion®, a manufacturer of inkjet printers and inks for the label and packaging industries.
2008
EFI acquires remaining interest in Raster Printers to add mid-range wide-format inkjet printing technology to their portfolio.
2012
EFI extends into the ceramic tile decoration market with the acquisition of Cretaprint.
2013
EFI acquires European regional print ERP software provider GamSys.
2015
EFI enters digital textile printing with the acquisition of Reggiani Macchine and, at the same time, acquires Matan Digital Printers to extend its share of the superwide-format display graphics market.
EFI acquires UK-based MIS developer Shuttleworth Business Systems, and Corrugated Technologies Inc. (CTI) to extend its productivity software suite into the packaging market.
2016
The EFI Nozomi single-pass digital inkjet printing platform for corrugated is announced.
EFI acquires Rialco® Limited, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of dye powders and color products for digital print and industrial manufacturing industries.
EFI acquires Optitex Ltd., a global leader in integrated 2D and 3D CAD/CAM software solutions, to extend its leadership in the digital transformation of the textile industry.
2017
EFI acquires MIS provider CRC Information Systems.
EFI makes further inroads into the corrugated packaging market by acquiring corrugated packaging software developer Escada Systems.
2018
EFI reports record sales of just under $1B and opens a new EFI Inkjet facility and customer experience center in Londonderry, NH, USA.
2019
EFI is acquired by an affiliate of private equity firm Siris Capital.
2021
EFI Reggiani celebrates 75 years of innovative solutions for the textile world.
2022
EFI completes the sale of its packaging and print productivity software business to focus technology investment strategy on digital imaging segments.
EFI acquires Barcelona-based Inèdit Software S.L., a developer of raster image processors (RIPs) and related software for digital industrial textile printing, and integrates it into EFI’s Reggiani textile business.
2023
EFI’s Fiery business unit is separated as an independent company that will remain wholly owned by Siris.
Siris appointed Frank Pennisi, a veteran of the industrial and technology sectors, as EFI’s Chief Executive Officer.
